We hope you all enjoyed half term and have had time to relax and enjoy the weather with your children! This half term we will all be very busy getting children prepared to take their next steps to school and also preparing for our new intake of children!
The topics that we will be doing this half term are as follows:
- 3/6/19 – Keeping Fit and Healthy (2 weeks)
- 17/6/19 – Life cycles (2 weeks)
- 1/7/19 – Holidays (2 weeks)
- 15/7/19 – Moving on to school
This year we are holding our sports day earlier in the year on Friday 14th June. This is not a normal preschool day and all children will need to be accompanied by an adult. Younger children will be doing their races first and we ask anybody that is not leaving us this year to come to the field behind the hall for a 9:30 start. Everybody else is invited to join us at 10:45 to join in with our fundraising games and the Leavers races will begin at 11:30. This year our fundraising committee have planned some fun sporty games with lots of prizes to be won! We will be offering cream teas, ice lollies and fun games for all ages so please come along and bring family along too to support your preschool with this term’s fundraising event!
Please be aware that the transition to school plans have changed slightly from last year. Newton Flotman School would like to involve parents more in the transition process. There is a parents evening being held by the school on 19th June between 6-7:30, this is for parents only. You are invited to take your children to two stay and play sessions the first one is on Monday 1st July and the second is on Tuesday 16th July, you will find further information on your letter from the school. In addition to these two days we will be taking the children to the school during the term, the date is to be confirmed. Mrs Brailey is visiting the children at Preschool on Thursday 6th June at 9:30.
If your child is attending a different school Ria has invited your child’s new teacher to come in on the days that your child is at Preschool, you will be informed individually of the dates that these visits take place.
Ria will be writing a transitional report for each child that will be shared with you before it is sent to the child’s school.
Memory Sticks and Tapestry
At the end of term there will be an opportunity to receive your child’s Tapestry learning journal on a memory stick. These are a cost of £7 if you would like to buy one please let Ria know before July 1st.
If your child’s school uses Tapestry we will be transferring your child’s journal to their new school so they can continue their learning where they left off with us!
We should soon receive the proof of our leavers photograph, if you would like to place an order please do so by talking to Ria once it has arrived!
Suncream, Hats, Footwear
Please make sure that you bring a sunhat and sun cream to preschool every day. Even if the sun is not shining when you drop off in the mornings! If it is forecast to be a hot day please apply sun cream to your child before you drop them off, we are happy to reapply at lunchtime. Also please make sure that your child’s footwear is appropriate for Preschool, no flip flops at all and please make sure that any sandals are well fitted. Please avoid open toes as these are dangerous for children to wear outside. As always ALL of these items MUST BE NAMED! We have marker pens and labels available!
End of Year Picnic
On the last day of term we will be holding a picnic. We are hoping to offer BBQ food too, if this is something that you would like please let Ria know so she can , of course if you would prefer to bring your own picnic that is ok too, we would just like to see everybody there to celebrate the end of another fun packed year! Preschool will be offering ice creams to all children and there will be the opportunity for parents to buy themselves an ice cream too!
